Following on from the hugely acclaimed ‘Find Me a Family’ C4 documentary, filmmaker and care campaigner David Akinsanya has teamed up with training specialists Kaizen, to offer a 2-day workshop programme which will continue to open the hearts and minds of potential foster carers.

About David Akinsanya

 

David is a hugely accomplished documentary filmmaker, a national spokesperson on the care system, and a powerful advocate for improving the care system. He has inspired and empowered both professionals and young people through his relentless commitment to improving the life chances of children taken into care. David has been delivering training for social workers and foster carers for more than 20 years. His recent documentary has highlighted the need for this training programme which will encourage, empower and enable potential and prospective foster carers.

  • Choice: participants will see if fostering is really right for them, and be in a position    to make a powerful choice.
  • Possibility: realise what is possible for the young people and themselves from fostering.
  • Qualities and Skills of an effective foster carer: including a self-assessment completed by the participants.
  • Personal Awareness: building self awareness to create a deeper understanding of how their world views (and therefore choices and actions) have been constructed. This in turn enables a better understanding of others.
  • Coaching and Support: how to give and accept support and also a model of non directive coaching to use.

Programme Detail and Cost

 

The programme would be designed to meet your specific needs and could
include

  • Delivery of the 2-day workshop by David Akinsanya and Kaizen specialist
    trainers, with up to 40 participants on each workshop.
  • Half-day consultancy and coaching for the sponsoring authority in the area
    of engagement of foster carers
